Use

The ThermalPowerPlant is a model of a boiler with an internal HeatController that is automatically configured depending on the boiler parameterization.

The ThermalPowerPlant covers the following applications:

  • Basic: The ThermalPowerPlant supplies heat according to the current temperature specifications. All control takes place within the model.

  • External Volume Flow: The ThermalPowerPlant is still controlled via the temperatures. However, the volume flow on the heat sink side is specified externally.

In the standard case, the ThermalPowerPlant consists of a Boiler and a HeatController model. The heat sink must be connected via the ▶Flow and ▶Return connector. In addition, the setpoint temperature (▶TRef) and the actual temperature (▶TCurrent) of the heat sink has to be connected.

The ConstantPowerOutput, RelModMin and nUnits parameters can be used in the same way as for the Boiler. All parameters on the Boiler Properties and Heating Medium and Fuel tabs can be found in the Boiler documentation.

The internal HeatController can be parameterized via the Controller Properties. Here, TFlowMax and TReturnMax ensure an emergency shutdown of the CogenerationPlant, qvMax defines the maximum volume flow on the heat sink side and deltaTActRefLow and deltaTActRefUp define the limits for switching the ThermalPowerPlant on and off.

In this case, the volume flow is not determined by the internal HeatController, but is specified externally via ▶qvRef. It should be noted that the qvMax parameter continues to limit the volume flow and must therefore also be adjusted.
